There are a vast amount of opportunities for Michigan Catholic photography. Most of the time it is weddings, but recently I was able to photograph the Transitional Diaconate Ordinations at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. These young men took one more step closer to the priesthood as they were ordinated deacons. These are always a joyful time and these men will need our continued prayers as they make their way to being ordinated priest next year.
This year there were four young men who were ordained to the transitional deacon. You might be asking yourself what does a transitional deacon do? Well, that is a good question and it seems like they will be quite busy in the coming year. According to the Detroit Catholic…
“As transitional deacons, the seminarians will assist at parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit while they continue their academic formation in their final year at Sacred Heart.”
This will give the men the oppertunity to begin to experience the parish life and duties of a priest. I am hopeful that as I go on more Michigan Catholic photography adventures I will be able to capture them as they receive and administer the Sacraments.
Much like a wedding, I approach the ordination with reverence to capture the emotions of the day. There is laughter, tears of joy, and the sense of wonder and gratitude. Below are some images from the day and be sure to check back soon for more post of recent work as I work to capture Michigan Catholic photography.
