Photos from the Ordination Mass – Archdiocese of Detroit

There are a vast amount of opportunities for Michigan Catholic photography. Most of the time it is weddings, but recently I was able to photograph the Priestly Ordinations at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. These men took their final step to the priesthood as they were ordinated priests. These are always a joyful time and these men will need our continued prayers as they make their way to their new assignments.

This year there were two men who were ordained to the priesthood. Fr. Pat Bruen had a calling later in life after his wife passed away some years ago. I have photographed many ordinations before, and never have I seen the children and grandchildren of one of the ordained. Fr. Pat is showing us all that we will always have something to offer to God and we can continue to serve his people even in our older years.

Much like a wedding, I approach the ordination with reverence to capture the emotions of the day. There is laughter, tears of joy, and the sense of wonder and gratitude. Below are some images from the day and be sure to check back soon for more post of recent work as I work to capture Michigan Catholic photography.
